Equity represents performers and artists across the entire spectrum of entertainment and the arts. Our membership includes actors, singers, dancers, choreographers, variety and circus artists, stage management, theatre designers and directors, TV and Radio presenters, stunt performers and coordinators. For all these groups Equity provides stability in a very insecure world. Once you are in Equity you automatically gain a voice within your profession, becoming part of an organisation with strong influence and more than fifty years experience of protecting the rights of artists. PAY AND CONDITIONS We negotiate minimum terms and conditions across the entertainment industry keeping pace with technological and other changes. We also produce guidelines for work in areas where there are no representative bodies with whom we can negotiate. Equity Agreements cover all aspects such as hours of work, as well as rates of pay. Working under Equity terms means you are better protected. PUBLICATIONS Copies of all Equity Agreements e.g. Theatre, Film etc. are available from the office or through this website www.irishequity.ie Our members’ newsletter is sent free to all members, keeping them in touch with Equity initiatives and activities. HEALTH AND SAFETY Theatres, clubs, studios, locations and other venues can be hazardous places to work. We press for improvements to backstage conditions, and continually monitor health and safety legislation and provide guidelines for all members. Check the Health and Safety website EQUITY CARD As a holder of an Irish Equity Card your status as a professional in the entertainment industry is internationally recognised. As part of SIPTU, we have the strength of Ireland’s largest Union to effectively lobby government and other influential bodies on issues relevant to our membership. RIGHTS, COPYRIGHT AND NEW MEDIA We monitor national and international developments in intellectual property rights, campaigning for adequate recognition of performers’ statutory rights and implementing and supporting initiatives in this area.
